francisco. >> a horrible discovery. a man's bloody body was found inside a car trunk. rita williams is in santa rosa where she's learned the name of that dead man. rita. >> reporter: frank, that car with a body stuffed in the trunk was parked across the street from sonoma state university. that's upset some students who just returned from winter break yesterday. >> i didn't know about that. so i think i'm concerned i didn't know. >> reporter: sonoma county sheriffs investigators say it shouldn't be alarmed. >> more than likely it happened somewhere else. >> reporter: sonoma county sheriffs deputies say they spotted the car here last night. it matched a car santa rosa police say was involved in a domestic violence case friday night. they saw blood in the front seat, opened the trunk and found a man's body inside. the coroner has identified that man as sean francis parker. investigators told me parker was the suspect in that domestic violence case and that they believe at least some of the blood in the front seat belonged to the woman who was the domestic violence victim. >> we've con

. >> and with the new develop comes new hope a family can finally get some answers. rita williams spoke to a mother today and she will have more at 5:30 p.m. >>> man was charged with a cold case murder of a woman whose body was found in a dumpster. we have pictures on north shoreline boulevard. the body was found in january of 1985 in a trash container. technicians found dna under her fingernails. police say that a database matched the dna to a man. today he was charged with murder. he is being held on $2 million bail. >>> a train hit and killed a man and his dog this morning. amtrak says the train hit them as they were crossing the tracks this morning. investigators say it appears the man was pushing a bike and walking his dog. other trains ended up using alternate tracks and did not stop there. >>> police are investigating the first hop side of the new year -- homicide of the new year. someone fired a gun into a car killing a teen. it happened before 1:00. the police department's shots spotter picked up several gun shots and officers were there quickly. at this point no arrests have been made. >>
